Subject: Waste Oil and Quality standards (Altpoel)

I was interested in anybodies experiences with both PPO and waste oil and the Weihenstephan quality standards.

Has anybody had cleaned waste oil tested to these standards?

Does anybody have any comments on the Weihenstephan quality standards? suitability etc.

I am involved in PPO in the UK and think that a similar set of standards would help PPO to progress here. The UK government however is not keen on the idea of new oil being used as a fuel. For this reason it would wise to have a standard that could be attained with cleaned used oils.

Hi Darren,

as far as I know, there were up to now no attemptions, to bring the used oil to defined standards. However, the idea is very interesting and for dealers it might be worth thinking about it.

The thing is that all users of used Oil (Altpöler) do not want to pay more than necessary and they wouldn`t object using oil, which does not meet any specification. Most of them have lots of experience with their own car and also lots of experience in repairing it :-)).

Keep in contact

Werner
